Acknowledge Colonization
Each Full Moon Ritual begins with a Land Acknowledgement. This is a moment to slow down & name that I'm living, working, & practicing on stolen land.
When I open ritual by first honoring the original people of this land I am actively decolonizing my life, work, & practice.
Acknowledging that my ancestors were not invited onto this land begins to break the cycle of internalized white supremacy, dominance, & superiority.
Offering a Land Acknowledgement is only a first step. I've still got work to do.
To support the work of decolonizing my life, here are some of the questions I ask:
Whose land am I on? Why do I not know?
Where can I learn more about the original stewards of this land? How can I support these communities?
What are the native foods, herbs, & medicine of this region?
How can I integrate these plants into my life in a non-culturally appropriative manner?
May this message inspire you to explore your sense of place, get curious about what you don't know, & take action.
