Pausing to Bloom
Before you set your intention(s) for 2022, I invite you to first pause & slow down.
If the invitation to pause & slow down freaks you out–that’s OK! I totally get it & that is why intentionally slowing down is part of my spiritual practice.
Our culture likes to focus on what’s next, rather than what’s now. We’ve been conditioned to look to the horizon & focus on the next big goal to achieve.
It’s a radical act to pause & slow down.
It’s also completely natural to pause & slow down.
As the meme saying goes:
There is nothing in Nature that blooms all year, so don't expect yourself to either.
If you are able, take these Dark Moon days leading up to the New Moon on January 2nd as your opportunity to pause & slow down.
What does “slowing down” mean for YOU?
There is no right/wrong way to slow down.
Perhaps it looks like taking a bath. Perhaps it means taking a deep breath before answering a question. Perhaps you slow down by turning your phone silent for a few hours.
Slowing down is different for each of us & it changes depending on our season of life.
Notice what happens when you slow down:
What do you notice in your body when you consider slowing down?
What do you notice in your body when you are in the act of slowing down?
What do you notice in your body the moments after you have slowed down?
Again, there is no right/wrong answer to any of these questions. The practice is to notice, gather data, & decide if you want to integrate what you discover.
Rather than rushing to name your 2022 intention(s), what could happen if you first took a moment to pause & slow down?
