When it’s time for change
How do you know it’s time for change?
I know it’s time for change when I either get SO bored or fed up that I just can’t anymore.
About 15 years ago when I was around the age of 25, I started to get really bored of a story that looped in my head: “I am NOT a morning person.”
One day I just got SO BORED of this story dominating my interior thoughts that I started telling myself: “I AM a morning person.”
I shit you not, this totally changed me.
After telling myself this new story enough times I began to align my actions with me actually being a morning person (maybe reducing the first-thing-in-the-morning bong rips had something to do with it?). There was discomfort through this process of evolution–for sure–yet for me I’d rather be in temporary discomfort than being TOTALLY BORED.
Through the years I’ve gotten FED UP with experiencing physical pain. I’ve oscillated between denial & choosing to push on through neither option supporting me in the long run.
So this year I started to open up about the ongoing cycles of pain that show up in my life. Doing so has allowed me to live more authentically as well as identify changes that I can make in my life. These changes are not to fix me. I am not broken & neither are you. These changes are me acknowledging my lived experience & bringing the accompanying shame into the light (thanks, Brené Brown).
My personal practice now is to listen to the whispers of my intuition, specifically when my intuition is desiring change, so I can prevent experiencing the extremes of BORED or FED UP. This can be uncomfortable because it requires me to TRUST my inner wisdom even–& especially–when everything might appear “OK” or “good enough.”
How do you know it’s time for change?
I understand the awkward space of craving change while simultaneously not taking action to implement the change. It can be a confusing & sometimes chaotic space. My work is to support others in facilitating change in their life so they can align with their authentic desires.
I’m curious about the change your inner voice is desiring, the deep purpose behind this change, & what challenges are preventing you from taking action. I’m curious because I believe in your desires. I believe you following your desires will create great positive impact in the world.
No one else is going to make your desires a priority besides YOU. It’s up to YOU to invest in your heart’s calling & commit to the temporary discomfort of change.
If you are ready to explore the change you so deeply desire in your life, I’m here for you.
