Curious Reflection
Intentional reflecting is a practice–always changing & never completed. A practice that requires slowing down, pausing, & intentionally reviewing your life. The practice is looking back without judgement, shame, regret, &/or guilt. Seeing our past as what IS, allows us to behold the creation of this moment.
Perhaps your work is, in & of itself, exploring your personal history with love & compassion. If so, be in it. Get curious. Ask yourself questions. See what happens.
When we reflect back & honestly name our past choices, we can use this data to inform our current choices. Again, reflecting from a place of curiosity. You didn’t mess up in the past & now need to make it “right” in the future. We all have permission to grow & evolve just as Nature does, cause remember, we ARE Nature.
I invite you to lean into authentic curiosity & reflect on the past month (or year. or lifetime):
Which moments did I feel in flow* with my truth/highest purpose/authentic self? What choices did I make leading up to this moment? How can I recreate these choices?
Which moments did I feel out of alignment? What choices did I make right before this moment? What different choices can I make in the future?
Take your time on this reflection practice. Give yourself space to experience the emotions. Remember to breathe, drink water, move your body, & call in your resources. It’s OK to decide not to review certain experiences in your life until you feel empowered to do so. This is YOUR practice.
Next week I’ll share how to transform the reflection data you’ve gathered into a New Moon intention.
Until then, stay curious.
* “flow” refers to the work of Hungarian-American psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, who describes flow as "being completely involved in an activity for its own sake. The ego falls away. Time flies. Every action, movement, & thought follows inevitably from the previous one, like playing jazz. Your whole being is involved, & you're using your skills to the utmost." wiki
