Not another thing on your to-do list
Last week I shared a reflection ritual that can support you in uncovering your New Moon intention. If you missed it, you can catch up here: Curious Reflection
Once you’ve gathered your reflection data, consider the upcoming Lunar Cycle. What’s on your schedule? What emotional labor needs tending? What are your additional commitments?
Honestly looking at your calendar may be your place to pause a lil’ longer. Are you someone who chronically overbooks? Do you become easily burned out? This is your invitation to withhold judgment, get curious, & ask:
How can integrating a New Moon intention into my life be nourishing & not another thing on my to-do list?
Only YOU know the answer.
To recap where you are on your New Moon intention setting process, you have now…
reflected on past choices that resulted in personal alignment & flow (h/t Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi)
honestly identified your capacity for implementing a New Moon intention
Perhaps at this point you’re getting a whisper (or a loud suggestion) of what your intention will be. If so, go for it! Otherwise, you might have some more exploring to do.
A framework I like for cultivating an intention is reviewing my MEPS: my mental, emotional, physical, & spiritual self. For each aspect of self, I ask:
What can I DO that will most support how I want to BE?
Think back to what you uncovered in your reflection practice. What are some actions that personally represent how you want to BE? Perhaps daily practices such as…
Mental: Read a book 30 mins
Emotional: Journal 30 mins
Physical: Practice embodied movement
Spiritual: Sit at altar 30 mins (or 3 mins!)
Now pick ONE as the DO-ing that will support your desired BE-ing. Again, consider your schedule: What do you actually have space for?
Be kind to yourself when creating your New Moon intention. Pick an intention that you can achieve. Celebrations are fun!!
Or find your edge. You know yourself. Is this the time in your life to tiptoe to your growth edge & feel the winds of vulnerability blow in your hair?
Once you’ve identified your New Moon intention, make an immediate action to remind yourself of your intention. This can be as fancy or straightforward–writing your intention on a post-it note or completing an elaborate spell–as you wish. What matters is creating an action that physically & symbolically represents your intention. #YouDoYou
Then take a deep breath & walk away. Demonstrate to yourself, & to the Universe, that you trust in your ability to follow through on your New Moon intention.
Then do it.
