How to make ritual water
My personal practice is nature-based, meaning I look to Nature for teachings, wisdom, & inspiration.
This also means I honor significant moments in Nature, moments such as:
Seasonal transitions (equinox & solstice)
Day/night transitions (Sun & Moon sets)
Lunar Phases (Full Moon, New Moon, etc)
Today is Full Moon & that means the Sun, Earth, & the Moon are aligned & the tides are high. (Watch Neil deGrasse Tyson explain, at minimum watch the first minute.)
I interpret this as a perfect opportunity to collect magickal water for ritual.
Magickal water?!?
Yes!
Scroll down for 4 steps on how to collect your very own magickal water.
Have fun & remember: You can’t do this wrong.
Collecting Ritual Water
Step 1
Pick a vessel that feels magickal for you.
There is no right or wrong answer. Follow your intuition & remember: it doesn’t have to make sense.
Perhaps the vessel is:
Gramma’s favorite mug
Your best friend’s pottery piece
A glass goblet from Goodwill
Your backpacking Tupperware
Something else totally unique to you
Step 2
Fill the vessel with water.
As you fill the vessel, intentionally thank the water.
You can go even further & thank everything & everyone that had to be involved to get the water to you.
If you’re filling from municipal water, it could go something like:
I give thanks to those who…
created the plumbing in this house
laid the pipes connecting to the water main
mined the material for the pipes
built the reservoir where the water is stored
traditionally collected water on this land
Step 3
Place the filled vessel somewhere to symbolically absorb the energy of the Full Moon.
Location is totally up to you. Again, there is not a right/wrong way.
In a direct window that the Full Moon shines through? Awesome!
Next to your bed where there are no windows? Awesome!
This practice is all about intention.
How long you leave it is also up to you.
Just overnight, 24 hours, until New Moon, complete Lunar Cycle, or when you remember again – all great options.
Step 4
Use the water!
If your vessel was covered, you can drink the water (or make tea!) & visualize the Full Moon energy integrating into you!
Or you can do something like:
Anoint yourself
Use as an offering
As a tool for ritual
Water your favorite plant
Or in another creative & inspiring way
