Nonnegotiable Ritual
My ritual practice typically happens at my altar. Sometimes though, it can happen riverside beneath a tree.
No matter where my ritual practice occurs, it always has the same effect: I slow down, get out of my own way, & deepen my connection to intuitive Nature.
Wait. Ritual, what??
When I’m talking about “my ritual practice,” I’m referring to a sacred practice that I repeat, & return to again & again.
So let me take you back a few years…
I consider going to church with my Gramma, especially taking communion, as my first sacred ritual experiences.
When I was a wee lil’ Meghan, I found the traditions of the Episcopal faith to be so fascinating. Sometimes we would stand. Sometimes we would kneel. At certain points we would all say things out loud together, while at other times it would be call & response. Then we’d eat the body of Christ & drink his blood. What?!? How freakin’ cool!!
When I was in my 20’s I found sacred practices beyond the walls of the patriarchal, colonialist church. I studied core shamanism, earth-based spirituality, & Moon magick. When I facilitated my first group ritual & witnessed the profound impact of all involved, I knew I had found my jam.
Throughout the past 20 years, my practice has ebbed & flowed. Some years I maintained a disciplined daily practice, other years not so much. Nowadays my ritual practice is nonnegotiable & fully integrated into my life & work.
My ritual practice is a container through which I access divine flow. In this flow I am in deep communion with Nature & strengthening my intuition. Most importantly though, ritual is how I reclaim my inner wisdom & self trust.
