Slowing down freaks me out
It’s Full Moon–are ya feelin’ the vibes?
I think of the Full Moon as an amplifier & a spot light. I believe the “brightness” of the Full Moon helps us to see what’s actually going on.
Unless you live under a rock (Hi, friends under the rock!), we all experience an oppressive culture that wants us to keep going, push on through, & not slow down regardless of what our body is craving.
When we align our awareness with the Lunar cycle, we intentionally slow down, break free from linear time, & cultivate moments of rest. I believe when we rest, we receive visions. We also disrupt the system(s) that wants us to believe that we can’t slow down.
In case you need the permission slip, here it is: You CAN slow down.
No matter what it might feel like in this moment, the world will not implode as a result of you slowing down.
Slowing down doesn’t have to mean escaping to a cabin in the woods for a month (although that is nice) or abandoning all of your commitments (although I bet some could be delegated) or anything else that could cause you more stress.
Slowing down can be anything that YOU want it to be.
Little, big, dramatic, subtle. #YouDoYou
Welcome the brightness of this Full Moon & allow the moonlight to show you where in your life you could slow down.
Here are a few of my Slow Down Practices:
Smell every flower on your walk, even (& especially) if you think people will laugh at you.
Wait to reply to that email/text/dm.
Take an intentional breath, right now. A deep belly breath where you feel your ribs expand, your spine flex, & maybe even a funny sound happens on the exhale.
If the idea of slowing down is still causing a part of you to freak out, that’s OK. It makes me freak out & that is exactly why slowing down is part of my spiritual practice! We have many (many!) years of conditioning within us & it takes time to discover our new way.
Remember: Everything we’ve learned, we can unlearn.
May this message support you in reclaiming your right to move at whatever speed is most nourishing for you, now.
