Mother F’ing Ripples
In my early 20’s I spent a lot of time in Northern California, in particular a lil’ town called Arcata.
One barefoot afternoon, I was introduced to a group of tree sitters tabling outside the Arcata co-op. This was my first time interacting with inspiring folx who were taking direct action.
Growing up in 90’s I witnessed direct action in the downtown streets of Portland, Oregon. I remembering seeing protestors suspending outside office buildings & creating road blocks. I kinda got it, but not really.
That afternoon talking with those tree sitters will forever impact me. That is when I “got it.” I understood what it could feel like to have something mean so much to me that I’d do anything to protect it.
My choices never led me up a tree, but they have steered me down paths where I could integrate justice into my life, work, & personal practices. Now my path of justice is directly showing up in my business, co-creating with visionaries & disruptors who know we can (& must) do better.
We might not all be inspired (or able) to be on the front lines, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take direct action in our daily lives. I know there are causes you care deeply about. My question for you: How can you more intentionally integrate your desire for justice into your daily choices & actions?
Take a moment–this moment right now–to audit your work. Where can you make choices today that will ripple out change into the world?
