What is practice?

If you hang out with me for more than 3 minutes, I'll probably end up using the term practice in conversation.

"While sitting during my morning practice, I…"

"My practice has taught me…"

"…which led me to deepening my practice."

Not until my husband asked me, "What are you talking about when you say practice?" did I consider that not everyone uses the term practice the same way.

I appreciate how Bari Tessler, in her book The Art of Money, writes about how the broad use of the word practice "points to an important truth: we can take any area or habit in our lives, fill it up with intentionality, awareness, and compassionate discipline, and reap deep rewards."

Our practice can be whatever we make it to be.

My personal practice has evolved & transformed through the years.

During some years my practice was heavily influenced by yogic teachings & looked like many hours on a mat.

During other years my practice was deep in the mind, discovering psychedelic adventures in community, typically on the dancefloor.

Some other years my practice was with the soil, learning from the land & cultivating a relationship to the food & medicine I consumed.

In recent years my practice has taken me to the sea, witnessing the big & small cycles, as well as swimming through all the seasons to remind me that I can do hard things.

What keeps me coming back to a practice (in whatever form) is the desire to reveal a ritual that helps me to answer these questions:

  • How can I reconnect with my intuitive & embodied wisdom?

  • How can I reclaim my magic (aka my power)?

  • How can I reimagine our world so I can co-create our dreams?

  • How can I realign my intention so it contributes to collective liberation?

These questions, as much as the answers, inform my ritual practice so I stay rooted in remembering.

Remembering the teachings of our ancestors.

Remembering the whispers of my intuition.

Remembering who I am.

What's informing your practice?

  • What answers do you seek?

  • What questions are you exploring?

  • What practice could support you?

What's your very next action?

If you don't know where to start, how to begin, or what to do next – book a Virtual Tea so we can talk about how you might Reveal Your Ritual.
